Abstract
The Egyptian fauna of robber flies belonging to subfamily Ommatiinae (Asilidae) were revised. Three species within the genus Ommatius and two subgenera (Metommatius and Ommatius) were recognized; Ommatius (Metommatius) aegyptius Efflatoun, 1934; O.(Ommatius) striatus (Efflatoun, 1934) and O.(Ommatius) tenellus Wulp, 1899. In the present study, an illustrated key to the two subgenera and three species, diagnoses and distributional data were provided. The doubtful occurrence of Cophinopoda chinensis (Fabricius, 1794) in Egypt was also discussed.
