MAGNETIC PROPERTIES AND SPONTANEOUS DISTORTION IN PHASE- LAVES INERMETALIC COMPOUNDS

Abstract
The magnetization of several polycrystalline compounds in the Tb1-x Hox Co2 series have been measured using magnetic fields up to 18 KOe. Linear variations of the magnetic moments at 4.2 K and the Curie temperature Tc with x were found. X-ray diffraction analysis for the samples, were carried out between 15 and 300 K. The Cubic lattices of all the studied compounds distorted into rhombohedral lattices at temperatures below Tc. The distortion parameter temperature dependence is given. The spin orientation diagram of the system was determined.
