CHECKLIST OF THE FAMILY CIXIIDAE (INSECTA: HEMIPTERA) IN EGYPT

Abstract

This work is an annotated checklist of the Family Cixiidae, fauna of Egypt: including 43 species within 13 genera and 4 tribes: tribe Cixiini (represented by 11 species under 2 genera: Cixius Latreille and Tachycixius Wagner), tribe Duiliini (represented by 3 species under genus Duilius Stal), tribe Oecleini (represented by only one species under genus Myndus Stal), tribe Pentastrini (represented by 28 species within 9 genera: Epoliarus Matsumura, Eumecurus Emeljanov, Hyalesthes Signoret, Oliarus Stal, Pentastira Kirschbaum, Pentastridius Kirchbaum, Pseudoliarus Haupt, Reptalus Emeljanov and Setapius Dlabola). The list includes the valid names of all taxa and provides synonyms and the world distribution for each species. Keys to the Fulgoromorpha families and that of the Cixiid genera of Egypt are included; the colored images and illustrations of some specimens are also provided.
