Abstract
The finding of Wu et al about the presence of new rotational bands in (_^170)Er was studied from the point of view of back bending and odd-even staggering in γ-band, besides discussing the second difference ∆^2 Eγ. It was found that the back bending phenomenon arises in γ-band and K= 3^+ band at spin values I=〖14〗^+ and 〖12〗^+, and was not found in the ground state band.
