Copper Electrodepsoition From Non-Polluting Aqueous Ammonia Baths
Ibrahim, Magdy;
Abstract
Electrodeposoition of copper from aqueous ammonia solutions on to steel substrates has been studied. This investigation includes detailed studies on the influence of the bath composition as well as the operating conditions for producing good quality copper deposits. It was found that the optimum conditions for producing bright copper deposits are: CuSO4.5H2O 80 g/L, NH3 100 g/L, (NH4)2SO4 50 g/L, KOH 15 g/L and 3 x 10-5 M SDBS (as an anionic surfactant) at i = 2.7 A/dm2, pH 10.5 and at 25oC.
