Abstract

Kidney stones are one of the most painful urologic disorders and have beset humans for centuries.
The present investigation was observed the effect of antiurolithiatic of Ginger (zingberaceae) at dose (500 mg/ kg) b.wt. on ethylene glycol induced renal failure in male albino rats were compared with chemotherapy (cystone) as reference drug at dose ( 750 mg/kg)b.wt./day. Urolithiasis was induced by ethylene glycol (0.75% v/v and ammonium chloride (1% w/v) 2ml/day for28 days
Thirty two male albino rats were divided into four groups as control (G1) , Lithiatic Control (G2) ,Cystone treated (G3) and Ginger treated G4) the animals received these materials orally. It was indicated that the ethylene glycol was induced calcium oxlate stone. Treatment with the Ginger ( curative regimen) restored all the elevated biochemical parameters including (calcium ,oxalate, phosphate, Total protein ,creatinine, parathormone and blood urea nitrogen( BUN ) in serum and urine) . Also, it was noticed decreases in calcium ,oxalate ,SOD, MDA and tumor necrosis factor alfa (TNF-α) in kidney tissue. In addition Ginger group restored the urine PH to normal and decreased magnesium .Microscopic and Histopathological examinations confirmed the above results and revealed that the curative role of Ginger on inhibition renal stone associated with decreased calcium kidney content.
In conclusion, the present study indicates that ginger has an improvement effect against ethylene glycol -induced kidney toxicity and Urolithiasis in male rats.
